Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What is a Mystery Knitalong, and what is the Wee Three Gnomes MKAL?

A knitalong is a (mostly virtual) group knitting project following a specific pattern or theme. Knitalong is often abbreviated as KAL.

A mystery knitalong means that the knitting pattern is not known at the beginning and is gradually revealed. This means you only find out what the finished knitted piece will look like at the very end.

In the Wee Three Gnomes MKAL by Sarah Schira, also known as Imagined Landscapes, a gnome is knitted that remains a secret at the beginning. This MKAL is set up like an advent calendar. From December 1 to 21, there is a clue or other great surprises every day.

Is the pattern included in the kit, or do I need to get them separately from Sarah Schira (Imagined Landscapes)?

The pattern is NOT included in the kit. You can find all the information about the new Gnome MKAL 22 and the pattern itself directly from the designer, Sarah Schira (Imagined Landscapes).

It is a beginner-friendly pattern.

There are many video tutorials that guide you through the knitting process and help you knit the three little gnomes with patience.

Is one set enough for a gnome?

Yes, one set is easily enough for a gnome. Each set includes enough wool that you'll probably even have some left over at the end.

How many grams and meters does each mini skein have?

A mini skein of the Blue Socks base has a yardage of 85m/20g.

A Wee Three Gnomes set contains 3 such mini skeins.

What needle size is required for the gnome?

The gnomes are usually knitted with the following needle sizes:

2.25 mm, 2.5 mm and/or 2.75 mm

What care instructions should I follow?

Care and washing instructions:

It is best to wash your
knitted item by hand or on a wool cycle in a modern
washing machine with a gentle drum, as cold as possible or hand-warm.

You can also wash superwash yarns on a wool cycle at max. 30°C.

Hand washing is recommended for yarns with a silk content.

It is best to use wool detergent and avoid fabric softener and bleach.

It is best to dry the knitted item flat. Do not tumble dry. Do not iron.

Attention: Hand-dyed yarns may bleed during the first wash. Please wash separately.

Note on colors with turquoise pigments:

Here
it can happen when winding the skein into a ball and when knitting that the color rubs
off on your hands. The blue color can be easily washed
off your hands with soap and after knitting it usually does not rub
off on the skin anymore when worn.

What material is the wool made of, and is it machine washable?

The Blue Socks are made of 75% virgin wool (BFL sw) and 25% nylon.

The virgin wool content is superwash (short sw) treated and can thus be washed in the washing machine on the wool cycle at max. 30°C.

Where do the fibers in the yarns come from?

BFL

The Bluefaced Leicester virgin wool comes from various small farms in Great Britain

Nylon

The nylon comes from Germany

What do the colors really look like in person, and how much do photos differ from the original?

I do my utmost to capture the colors as accurately as possible when photographing them. However, due to different screen settings, the colors may differ slightly from the original.

What kind of color distribution (speckles, gradients) can I expect, especially with Christmas Hope and Christmas Peach?

The colors are always quite flat. So they don't swallow up smaller patterns all that much.

Are the sets available for immediate delivery, or do you dye them to order? How long does that take?

The first 5 pieces per set are available immediately. All sets ordered beyond that are pre-orders. I dye these sets after the order is placed.

The pre-order period ends on 08.11.2026.

All sets will be shipped by 17.11.2026 at the latest.

When will it be shipped, and will the set arrive in time for the MKAL start?

The sets will be shipped by November 17, 2026, at the latest, so they will arrive in time for the start of the MKAL.

Can I order several sets together, and will I only be charged shipping once?

Yes, that is of course possible!

Other products can also be ordered together with the sets. The shipping time depends on the product with the longest delivery time.

Are the sets also available individually as mini skeins or in other yarn bases?

No, the individual mini skeins are not available for purchase separately. Nor are they available on a different yarn base.

Is there a return or exchange process if I don’t like the colors?

You have the right to cancel your order within 14 days of receiving the goods.

Here you will find all the information about the cancellation policy:

Cancellation Policy

Is the set also shipped outside Germany?

Due to the new Packaging Act of August 12, 2026, shipping to non-EU countries is not possible.

Shipping is possible to the following countries:

Switzerland, Canada

Other countries upon request

Why does a mini skein set cost more than a large skein?

Processing and dyeing mini skeins entails significantly more work compared to large skeins.

While for a large skein of 100g of wool, the effort is only incurred once, for mini skeins of 20g each, it is incurred 5 times.

Therefore, for the same amount of wool, significantly more steps are required when working with mini skeins.
